Aso carefully check and clean all the battery connections to the engine (including the ground cable to the block). 99% of problems like you describe can be traced to a bad connection in the battery cables, especially the ground side.

Speaking of ground, we just had a big T-storm move thru about an hour ago with some wicked lightning and blew a bunch of transformers in the neighborhood, so I'm on the Next Gen 21 KW, happily purring outside my shop. I have my good meter hooked up and she's making a perfect 240 volts and 60 cycles, pulling 3 a/c systems (it's hot here), 4 frigs/freezers, an ice machine, and the rest of the do-dads in the house. Sipping about 1 GPH of 50 cent diesel from the 275 gal. tank. Gonna hurt to replace that cheap diesel. Probably the only toy I ever bought the Bride thinks is wonderful.

Took AJ to the fuel dock by the camp yesterday and put 85.2 in her, representing the trip from Venice to the camp after the UVI. $2.27, ouch. Log book shows the last several trips on that route, almost exactly 110 n.m., consumed 83, 86, and 85. Most all of it running 24.5 kts, so that's 1.3 NMG, not bad
