Carl,
Charging thru an isolator will reduce the charge voltage due to the drop across the diode.
It can be as much as 1 volt.

It would be good to get a portable trickle charger and charge the battery when dockside.

Use a meter to check the voltage from time to time. Low voltage can sulfate the plates and reduce battery life.
