I had a leaky fitting once on a pickup line. There was no evidence of leaking beyond the smell. It wasn't easy to locate either. It took me a couple days, I kept thinking the tank must of been leaking... but there was no evidence in bilge.

I was able to find it with my nose. I got my nose as close as I could to every inch of fuel plumbing, I also used towels to wipe each segment I couldn't get my head near.

When I found the spot, it was pretty obvious. If you smell it in the air, you will know when you find the source.
