I'd like to believe that, but I have had my fair share of stupid ideas too. Some would say more then my fair share. (especially if you where to ask my wife)
Like the time I thought I'd put an automatic switch in my 20' Bayliner. (yes I had one) So I figure I would drill a pilot hole, 3/16" or so deep and use a small self tapping screw with some silicone to keep the switch in place. So I take my lil cordless drill and find a good location, pull the trigger and the drill goes right thru the bottom, pull it out and I have a gusher, did I mention the boat was in the water? Yeap, that was a brain fart, for a few secounds I thought I was going to sink cause of the little 1/8" hole.
Think I would have learned huh, few weeks pass and I decide to mount some pole racks up in the V-berth. Find where its nice and thick by some strakes and a counter joint, pop in some screws and perfect. That was till I go home and notice the screws protruding from the side of the hull.
Major brain strain there. Not really my fault though, I was brought up in a Hatteras. Bottom was several inches thick in places and the sides where overdone as well. Who knew you could build a boat with only 1/8 thick fiberglass. Then again I bought the Bayliner so we are back to Brain Fart.
