Patrick,
Mount the pump between the filter and the genset unless the pump has a built in filter. Otherwise you risk crap clogging up the pump.

Second, where did you wire the pump electric in on the genset?

Even crappy litle 19 buck fuel pumps should provide enough fuel. You don't need a High volume holley or carter pump.

Bypass the fuel pump wiring direct to the battery, thru a fuse to check. Start it going and check the flow out of the bleed screw.
You should get good flow.

If you are running thru the mechanical pump, there may be a defect in the valves that prevent fuel flow. Bypass the mech pump and try that.
