UV, doesn't that really cut down on the strenght of the rudder assemble? Maybe I'm thinking of something differnt.
Didn't think these 31's came out with 1-1/8" shafts.
The lenght of the taper, plus the extenion beyond taper ( Undercut, Thread and Nose )of Standard Shafting is as follows:
Shaft Size - Taper Lenght - Xtension - OAL
1-1/8" - 3-1/8 1-3/4 4-7/8"
1-1/4" - 3-1/2 2. 5-1/2"
1-3/8" - 3-7/8 2-1/4 6-1/8"
1-1/2" - 4-1/4 2-7/16 6-11/16"You could also consider a castlated nut (Castle or Slotted) and remove the end of the thread and nose, similiar to the old Chris Craft Style. However, I would recommend keeping shafting and hardware as Standard as possible so you can get replacements in a pinch.
