Shaft, Rudder, Wheel Q

I am just having a brain freeze here.
I am hearing that the change from 1.125 to 1.5 inch shafts may result in a situation where you can't remove the wheel without dropping a rudder. What? Longer taper is to be expected, but that much more?
Is this to be expected with this sort of jump in shaft size? Is this a major problem, or just a live with it kinda deal?
I don't change wheels very often (knocking on wood, never to date prior to repower) and have the new rudders pert near swimming in Tuf Gel and/or CX (another knock on wood). My boat also hangs in a sling so the rudders and wheels are relatively accessable. Nevertheless, its an issue I would want to avoid if possible.
Are there cost effective solutions to this?
Oh, the joys of repowering. I think whomever gets this boat after I am finally committed is going to be real happy though.
