Just a wierd thought. You've bypassed the genset's cooling pump. I assume it still turns when the unit is being cooled by the jury rigged AC pump, no? Any chance it's rotating dry and triggering a protective shut-off switch? Also (because I've had it happen) could the shutoff solenoid be stuck in the off position?
