AC revisited

I still have an ongoing problem with my AC as stated before the Gen set won't run it even though I increased the size from 6000 BTU to 9000 BTU it's only has a .4 amp more draw and should not make a difference (in theory). UV and Bruce recommended a hard start kit but Mermaid marine says it already has one built in it, they also said in most cases it's the pump so I disconnected the wires to the pump and shut of everything else to see if it made a difference... NOT, still the compressor wont come on. I put a amp gauge on the Gen set and turned everything on and it was pulling 15 amps and running fine I then shut everything off and turned the AC on and switched to shore power and start up registered 21 amps and ran at 8. Of coarse Mermaid said oh just take it out and send it back they will check it (easier said then done!) any help would be much appreciated
