Thanks,
I used the rotor to find the marking and then cleaned up so I could see it. Mark was obvious when not spinning, but disappeared soon as I started the engine. May have to do with the crud factor. Little oil from the Non-Sealing Seal, little rust from, well its a boat, and it disapeared under the strobe. Otherwise I was going to do the "stick it in the cylinder method".The Bell housing has a degree tag on it so as soon as I found the correct mark I was in good shape.
Both engines where pretty close on the timing, but off. Fuel burn is pretty good now at cruise but WOT lacks a few hunderd RPM and burn is over the top. I'll do a good tune up and check it again. I am also going to de-pitch spare wheels, as I was under-reving a bit last year before the fuel problems started.
