Engine Box Insulation

I have a 1975 31 FBC. The engine box insulation is similar to a window a/c filter and covered with plastic. It is approximately 3/4 to 1" thick.
It has begun to deteriorate and is falling off. I have 260 Yanmars as a sound factor.
Can anyone kindly recommend an appropriate fix or material for replacement.
