A Yanmar Question for Bruce

Bruce: I have 170 Yanmars in my B28 and have always set my long range cruise RPM at 2900 per yanmarhelp.com's recommendations for longevity. The continuous rating is 3200. My question is will 3000 or 3100 RPM for several hours decrease the life of these engines? The reason I ask is that at 2900 RPM, my speed is around 18 - 19 knots which requires some "tabs down" to help keep the bow down. At 3000 RPM or 20 knots the boat seems to get further over the hump. I am under propped by choice (18 x 17) and would rather not mess with that, but is 3000 - 3050 RPM for long runs a bad idea? I'm thinking it might lighten the load a bit by not pushing as much water. Your thoughts and recommendations would be appreciated. And anyone elses opinions would also be appreciated.
