Keep looking for either Yanmar or Cummins, the Hinos were introduced in the early 90's way under powered for a 31, I remember seeing them at the Miami show, pretty sure they were made in South Korea. Light weight engines, I think Mercruiser was marketing them at the same time as the infamous Mando Korean(POS) carbs they were putting on the 3.0 and 4.3 sixes. Yanamar240/250's in a 31 express I surveyed did 28 knots WOT (1964 heavy, wet decks and a tower) and wasn't propped right, still had more to go. Check for local sevice and parts in your area, then make your choice.
