What Bruce said! Also they should be a routine check item like your oil. They like to be kept tight! I check mine after every trip (10-20 hours) and usually tighten every 50 or so hours. I also replace them every spring (about 300 hours), just because thats the way I do things. They are still in good shape after a year of use. Assuming you use the same belt as the 200 year model 4LHA-STE, the proper belt is the Mitsuboshi RECMF-6460. One other item, if you do not keep them tight they will flex and contact a bolt. You will see a grove in the top of the belt. I would imagine that this would ultimately lead to shredding if the belts were run loose for long periods of time. The one I have in my hand, has about 300 hours and looks almost perfect, except for a slight mark (groove) on the top of the belt from contacting the bolt. Hope this helps.
