My first boat I kept at my brother-in-law's house and every weekend during the summer most of his family was over eating and drinking and having fun.
Well the boat was a v20 wellcraft with an i/o and I had it for about 2 months and usually took a beating when I'd dock with everyone there, piling pin ball, is a good way to expalin me backing into a slip. The one time I see everyone lined up on the bank above the pier and when I got done the all held up signs with numbers like the ice skate judges do( 2's and 3's) I fumed for about 3 steps then realized with this bunch they'd never letup if they thought they were getting your goat.
The best is the guest who wants to help and after backing into the slip a couple of inces from the piling this guest thinks you're too close and shoves with all his might. Mean while you've been looking the other way and are all of a sudden shocked to see a good docking go right down the drain.
btw, I never intend the chuckle in the other post at the request for advise. I laughed at what Carl was thinking while his guests were trying to help.
