My favorite was the skipper who was trying to land at the Noank Shipyard fuel dock years ago when it was still a fixed pier, rather than floating docks like it is now.
The guys wife was on the bow with a bow line and had clearly told him that on his command, she would attach the line to a dock cleat.
He drives up and t-bones the dock, completely blowing off his pulpit.
Then he started to berate his poor wife, because somehow this idiotic maneuver was her fault! All she was doing was standing there!
Crazy. Sometimes the dock committee is some of the best entertainment on the water!
However lending a hand is always appropriate, when not in danger of losing it!
