The Ubiquitous Docking Committee

I'm sure any of you who have been around boats more than a couple of years know what the Docking Committe is.... A bunch of lookie-loo's who watch as each skipper brings his boat home to the dock or slip. It seems like they are everywhere you go, waiting to get a good chuckle at any possible mis-hap or just damn-fool thing that might occur.
Have you ever noticed a truly experienced skipper among them? I doubt it because anyone who has docked a boat a couple of thousand times is aware that one time in every hundred or so something stupid happens: The engine quits, the lines get tangled, someone misses a toss, the crew man you sent to get the starboard spring is over on the port side looking for a place to put his beer down.... The two folks aft, who's only responsibility was to hand a line to the dock boy? Well they're busy chatting, one of them still holding the line like it was a glass of fine wine....The list is endless. If you've been around boats you know what I mean.
I only bring this up because a poster on this board asked for some help in how to single hand his boat into a tough slip. He got some sincere advice. But he also got one guy who had to let us know that he was chuckling about it all.
An extremely rare "Flame" on this board
I guess you don't need to be near a dock to roust the Docking Committee!
