USCG gives a one year "grace period". I somehow forgot to renew my 3rd issue 100 Ton Master. It was about 11 months late when I figured it out. By the time I did the drug test & handed in the paperwork, I was around 13 months late. I tried every angle but all I heard was "sorry, you have to start all over again".
