Walt,

Since I was customizing, I took the liner out and threw it away. I then fabbed a monocoques deck using cored panels attached directly to new stringers and glassed to landing ledges I glassed into the hull. I then faired all the inside of the hull. Time consuming yes, but the results are fantastic. If you want to save the liner, I'd suggest using a regular grinder with a diamond blade to cut it out where it starts to turn vertical. The diamond blade affords far more control and far less dust than a circular saw. As to replacing the faom, I sure did, after I fabbed new bulkheads, stringers, stem member, backbone and transom. Expandable foam is cheap money, easy to use and adding it back will ensure a more solid ride...
