Rod,
I'll send you a few pictures of a wet transom that I thought was perfectly dry...
I'm not sure how much access there is to the floor in the Baron, but if it is a flat floor like the Moppie, you are on the right track for removing the floor.
Take a circular saw (blade only about 1/2" - 3/4" deep) and run it around the perimeter of the floor a few inches from the hull sides. After the floor is pulled up, start digging as Mike said. If you are in this far and the boat is truely wet, you should replace the stringers as well. The stringers in these little B20s were 1/2" plywood with only small amounts of tabbing to hold them to the hull. Properly encapsulate the entire stringer. I have many pictures from several folks that have done this.
If you are in this far and you are still thinking of putting in that 300 hp beast, I'd seriously look at redoing the transom as well. On these onld B20s, the center "pie section" was made from 2 layers of 3/4" plywood and the sections outboard are balsa cored. The plywood was only nailed together in my Bahia Mar and the balsa core was soaked!
Have fun,
Ian.
