I doubt that with the other costs involved with keeping a boat that the fuel consuption is even a significant number in the decision to go gas or Diesel. Range, lower end torque, "Feel", and resale value (mostly to people who know nothing about engines and think Diesels are great).... that stuff I buy, but you can't sell me on saving money on fuel.
Face it; a fish boat is a luxury item. If you feel you need Diesels to make you proud, buy 'em.
