My son had a lot to do with my decision to bout Black Sheep, when he was about 14. He deckhanded for me for a couple of years, mostly running the boat offshore while I handled the cockpit - personal preference. Because friends with larger vessels had no problem putting him behind the wheel of their boats, I know he could dock it with only a bit of practice, but he never got to that point. Shortly after that, he left to live with his mother, leaving me to do the bulk of the restoration. He's 25 now, and I'm currently trying to get him back into the boat business with me. I'd let him take the boat out, after bringing him up to date on the ship's systems and the water. I'd worry about thm both, but i figure he;s take care of the boat, and I know the old 31 would take care of him.

Except for Vic, this is a very sensitive and insightful group, and Vic is Vic!
