There's another factor that may or may not be a consideration to some. In my case, my Sportsfisherman's market value, in good shape, rigged as it is-teak decks, radar arch, fully instrumented with back ups, with gas engines would be hopefully $50,000 at the top end. With the Cummins engines that jumps to $75,000. Considering I got 10+ years of trouble free use, lower fuel and maintenance costs, I'm also getting back 50% of it's original purchase and installation costs. I ain't selling, but that seems to be another justification IF you can afford the initial purchase. You WILL get some of it back when and if you sell. Also, aren't insurance rates lower for diesels over gas?
