When I was 21 years old, I used to get up every saturday morning weather I had slept 1 hour or 10 and help Mr. Sandwell look after Gabrielle III, the most beautiful 53' S&S sloop you have ever seen. One rainy May day we were scheduled to go out with a crew that I had supplied and he said "Why don't you go and take your friends"

From that moment on, my commitment to the boat and to him tripled. I looked after that yacht better than anything that I have ever owned. I matured, gained respect for what he did and made my friends comply with the rules of the boat.

If you can trust your son, trust your self and let him apply all that you have taught him. The experience will bind you closer than you can imagine. This is an opportunity - sieze it.
