Capt. Patrick,
This is getting to be an interesting debate on the B26 site. I posted this for Russ, but wanted your take (and others) as well. Pictures always give you a better story. Dave, I hope you don't mind that I posted these here.

Here is what I put on the B25 site:
Am I right in thinking that quality epoxy work has just as good of a bond as the original FG layup? I keep thinking that with all new wood and a real good epoxy layup with heavy tabbing would put this transom in as good as new condition. even if the cut was made all the way into the bottom of the hull. I've seen jet drives and tunnels on these things, I am thinking all of this was done with epoxy b/ of the secondary bond strength. I still also think that the price would be under 400.00 in materials. Am I wrong???
Dave,
I was given a piece of advice that started me on my glass work. "No matter what you do, you can't hurt it. It's just plastic, you can always grind it out and start over" - This was from Steve, the mold maker from Performer boats when they were manufactured in Richmond. He did the transom work on my boat. I guess what I am saying is if your not happy with the stainless plate, you can always redo it again and again. In the mean time you can reserve the right to give us a solid "I told you so". Either way, I support ya.
