Muratic acid will kill the grass. Just ask my next door neighbors.

Late one night, someone cleaned up some manifolds and risers with acid in a five gallon plastic tub. Those cheap tubs from Home Depo or Lowes work real well for this purpose. One can do both mani's and risers at the same time. Anyway, after the process was completed, the waste was dumped in my neighbor's yard. Killed the grass down to the dirt. They had to re-sod the area after waitng a good 3 months for it to grow back.

My best recollection is that I out of town at the time of this unfortunate event.
