Solo Controls

I recently got into a Cummins diesel powered 31 Bahia Mar. So far its everything I hoped for except for one major issue and that is the single lever throttle/shifter controls made by Solo. There is no feel in these controls as to when you engage forward and reverse making it a tough go in tight quarters. At this point I have to watch the trans pressure gauge so I know when the trans is engaging or the boat will change direction quickly when the shifter is moved to far (not just me others have tried). The transmission function fine with the cables removed so I've ruled that out and I don't see anywhere to adjust them. Is anyone familiar with these controls? Maybe replacement is the only answer can't enjoy the boat like this.
