8v92 gurus: HELP!!

Long story short: Both engines were majored in 2001. Approx 300 hrs since. Right before I bought it (at a major discount) stbd. side had a major overheat. Now, I have had it majored again. Cyl kits, heads, ex. manifolds etc.
My 50 is on its way from Pittsburgh, down the Ohio river so I can pick it up in Mobile & run it up to CT.
Now, the capt. is having trouble. Getting up on plane, stbd. eng. will run up to 11-1200 rpm but he can push the throttle up all the way with no change in rpm. black smoke billows out over the 1200 rpm throttle position.
Port engine will run up to 1700 rpm but then smokes with no increase in rpm even though he pushes the sticks more.
I'm thinking the Port is fine. It just cant push any more with the stbd. side lagging behind.
What the hell is going on with my starbord engine?? They have checked air intakes, emergency shut down, fuel filters. Sounds like injectore (which were just rebuilt during the major.
A mechanic is coming but not for a few days.
