Thanks Cap't Pat, I only want to do this once... Could I just postpone the screw step until I attach the moldings to the console, for the most part they are decorative, hiding the exposed layers of the plywood.
I used a router to make 3/8" deep dados to connect the center pieces of material and did the assembly by dry fitting everything and then taping off the outside edges with blue painting tape (took forever) and the coated the dados and the parts inserted into the dados with unthickened epoxy and then came back with epoxy thickened with wood flour (I didn't wait as long as you suggested though, maybe 20 min) . I put in a 1.5" thick triangular block of mahogany in the bottom corners for support that would double as a mounting point to hold down the console, I predrilled and used (2) 3" SS screws on each side to make sure they didn't move. I haven't bunged them yet.
While I still have a good supply of solid stock I will make up some more corner braces for the upper corners.
I have some fairly heavy biax tape, could I just glass the inside corners?
