It's a Puddingwife ( Halichoeres radiatus ) and good-un' as well. Yep, they are members of the Wrasse ( Labridae ) family. They're kinda common (in certain areas) here in the Keys, and throughout the Bahamas, Caribbean, etc. As edibility is concerned, well they're closely related to Hogfish... so there you go.
Eggwash the fillets and dredge in a mixture of:
course ground cornmeal
flour
slt/pepper
thyme
tarragon
Lightly fry 'em in a shallow pan of x.v.olive oil for a min. or so on each side... serve up with pepperjelly ( orange marmalade & chopped scotch bonnet peppers mixed ) and the libation of your choice....wheeeeeeeewie- aint nothing wrong with that!
