Thanks for your response. My bilge is not dirty w/ fuel, more like a thin coat of dirt and/or carbon. There's no sheen when I wash down the deck and the bilge pumps runs so I have no reason to believe anything but dirty water would be pumped out.
What are my options? A hose and castrol spray bottle at the dock would achieve the same result. I'm certainly not going to sponge & bucket clean my entire nasty bilge. I couldn't reach it all if I wanted to. The only other alternate would be to pull it and do it on shore.
I hear what you're saying. I don't want a CG chopper following an oil slick to me and aside from that I don't want to pollute the bay. Is what I've described like pumping your holding tank overboard? Something some people do but no one admits to?
BTW, I hosed down my cabin sole and filled the forward bilge with water. My forward bilge pump is broken but I figure when I ran her the water would run back to the center or stern pumps. No such luck. Do you know if the B28's forward bilge is isolated or are there some flow-through holes that might be plugged?
