Motor Box

I have been on a few but never took notice, how are the motor boxs held in position and configured on other models. On my Express I have the bow end of the box sitting on a 1x3 attached to the bulkhead, the stern sits on the deck. Center sections just hang in between the boxs on wood strips attached to the box, including two steps.

Reason I ask, is evertime I need to access the motors, I have to pull off the hatches, pull up the center sections then pull the box toward the center a few inches, then lift the box up and out of the area. Now with the sound insulation installed they are heavier and this chore has become back breaking.

I was thinking of hinging them to pivot open. I would have to cut off the step area, to clear the bulkhead, pull the box to the center a bit to clear the side panels, and hinging the back to the deck. Or make a frame flsh to the deck and slide the boxs.

Any thoughts?
