VHF Antenna Connector

Thanks to Capt. Dave for the number to Furuno, spoke to them yesterday about the problem I am have with my Radar interfering with my VHF radio and they were very helpful.

It appears that I have a problem with the antenna connector on my VHF radio, I believe the shield in the cable is shorted to the coaxial cable. If I take a meter and measure resistance from the center pin, on the connector, to the body of the connector, I read a direct short. If I understood the tech from Furuno correctly this is a problem, the center pin, with the coaxial cable in it, should be isolated from the shield/body of the connector. Can someone please confirm this?

If this is correct I’m going to pick up a new connector this afternoon, can anyone tell me if there are differences in connectors and should I look for one type over another. Also what is the best way to assemble this connector so that I avoid the problem I am having now.

As always, thanks in advance for the great advice.

Ken
