Those are run amps.
The hard start kit is a capacitor that will install with the current start capacitor or replace it depending on what kit you got.
It is not hard to install, but a warning about capacitors that don't have a resistor in between connectors.
Capacitors can shock the crap outta you. With power off, breaker also, put a screw driver between the terminals on the cap to short it. You may hear a snap which is normal, otherwise it would be like one of those crank boxes that shocked you as a kid.
You can get the hard start kit at any HVAC parts house.
The rule of thumb for start current since almost no one publishes it is, run amps times 1.8.
That also takes into consideration that the published run amps is correct which I find can be off more than less.
Current will also be defined by voltage.
If you are 110vac, current will be higher than if running at 120vac.
Manufacturers don't tell you the voltage they tested at either. Also does the run current include the pump?
But like I said, Buddy Boy handled it just fine on his 2.2kw set.
If you get the kit and have a problem, call me.
561-622-1736.Most of the time it is just the compressor and fan.
