Gotta love Pep Boys

Went to give my home 21KW diesel genset its exercise and the battery was dead. Has a small automatic charger on it, but after looking at my records, geeeeezzzz, that battery has been in it since new 7 years ago. It is mounted inside the outdoor enclosure , and of course, next to a brick wall, so you gotta be a pretzel to get at it. You figure how many times I checked the water in it - pick a real low #. Anyway, pulled it out a litle while ago - no easy task - and sent Snow off to our regular battery place to get a replacement. He called on his cell, place is closed for the week, looooong weekend, but hey, this is Coonassland. Told him to go to Pep Boys and get anything as long as it was the same physical size and would fit the battery tray. So he shows up with one the right size, but before I make myself into a pretzel again, figured I'd check the voltage. 8.9 volts. Snow said Mr. Pep Boy allowed as how it had been sitting for a while. Charged it for about 30 minutes and since there are some nasty looking T-storms bearing down on us, put it in the genset and left both chargers on it. If you own Pep Boys stock, sell it. I'm gonna order an Odyessy for it and forget it.
