Bilge Pump

I have three bilge pumps in the stern on the Annie M, two smaller 500 gph and one 1000 gph.
The 1000 was installed with an alarm and the float was mounted abouf 6-8" higher than the other two. Since then the wiring to this pump and switch was disconnected.
I ran a test cord from the battery to the pump and it worked.
I am thinking of running a new power supply thru a fuse and a switch to this pump.
Can I go directly from the pos and neg terminals on the battery and what size fuse should I use?
Thanks,
Mike G
