One thing that people who flush their engines with fresh water don't realize is that the water pump seals are not designed to withstand dock pressure water. While when not running, some water does leak by the impeller, the pressure will build up and can pop a seal.

When using a hose to run an engine, I always use a valve.
I start the engine, turn the water on, run, shut the water off and shut down the engine.

If the engines still run fine, throw a new pump on and get on your way.
