Ventilator Hoses

I was wondering if anyone tried the aluminum flex hose on the bilge blowers and Cowel vents? The original that was used by Bertram was a Black material that became brittle over time. The replacement sold in Marine stores is vinyl which doesn't really hold up well. Just wondering what others have tried to use. Tony Meola
