I'd only ever want a boat that was cored above the waterline.

Unless of course your core sandwich consisted of:

1. Outer skin - 2 layers of biaxial stichmat
2. Core - 4 layers of biaxial stichmat
3. Inner Skin - 2 layers of biaxial stichmat

I could handle this type of sandwich construction on the hull bottom:)
