Volvo backwards drive bites the hand that feeds it

Read in an article over the weekend that three Volvo employees were running a boat with the new IPS system home from the Lauderdale show and ran hard aground in the ICW (I think). The drive unit DID NOT SHEAR OFF, as it was designed to do. All three guys were hurt, one badly. Volvo says now it is designed to shear off on hard impact, but not necessarily when running aground. They don't seem to want to talk about it, but the word is the props were a twisted - and expensive - mess.
