Correction Carl. On the old wooden deck it was screwed into the aft support and the 3/4" plywood deck since all the screws would not hold anymore. I had the old mount fall out twice the way they had it mounted (NG). Now it will be bolted through the 2 X 2 fiberglass aft support. No penetration through the deck this time at all of course. I ordered 4 1/2 long 5/16 X 18 SS flathead phillips machine bolts. That oughta hold it. My former revised installation was a bear to get out as I used 5200 on all hardware after loosing steering twice from a falling cylinder. I think I got a total of 500 hours in this project between the deck, engine boxes, bulkhead, head counter , head wall covering , salon overhead, aux fuel tank installation and on and on and on. Good thing it's "The Best Boat Ever Built" Dave K
