Engine blow-by on 6bta

Need advice, Bought a pair out of a hurricane boat that did not sink. Engines sat for about 7 months without being run. Port engine Had been rebuilt with approx 20 hours. Engine runs great but the smoke and fumes from blow by are terrible. Locals say probably either a stuck ring or valves need readjusting. We'll adjust valves tomorror, Any other ideas? The other engine is off about 100 rpm's at WOT and smokes and has black water at 2400rpm's and above, I.m hoping this is just an injector problem. Any help will be appreciated, If we ch't get it right in 2 weeks we'll have to take another boat to the UVI.
Thanks, Mac
