Sea Star to replace Hynautic steering

I am considering replacing my Hynautic Helm unit with the Sea Star. The old Hynautic was rebuilt and is still too stiff. Can I use my present cylinder with a new Sea Star or must I replace the whole system. Has anybody made the change? this is presently installed on my B28
