Terry - guess that's the fatal flaw in my thinking. Water goes over it a lot, so I'd end up with a grass island floating in the yard. Oh well, another brilliant thought goes down in flames.
Now a better story. Friday afternoon I switched the a/c on in AJ since it was about 90 and I needed to do some interior stuff. Checked the water flow from the cooling pump and it was its usual heavy flow. Went off in the Goo Boat for a while flty fishing and came back, still pumping tons of water. Bat news was that no cooling, hot as hell inside. Hmmmmmm. Removed the microwave to get at the Cruiseaire and the compressor was real hot and not kicking on. Sooooooooo - figured either the compressor had burned up or the controls were stuck and it was trying to heat and cool at the same time. Did the obvious - shot the back of the three analog controls with Corrosion X and let things cool off for an hour or so. Cut it on and sho 'nuff, cold air. Let it run for a while and the output air got down to 37, good enough for me. It now cycles normally.
Bruce - you are the a/c expert. Could the controls get stuck and cause this? CX to the rescue again.
Sideband reception real good yesterday morning and talked to a guy in Honduras.
