Thanks Bruce and Doug.
Doug- good to hear that you are in the water, good story on the trannies. I was told by a local mechanic last year that the old cast iron velvet drives can take a huge beating before you can smoke them.

Sorry Bruce, but this one is a story that gives your side a bad name. I very much trust the judgement of the responsible parties, which make it even more diffcult to discuss.

I just replaced my trans coolers about 2 weeks ago and they were not refilled when the job was done. I was anxious to get the boat rolling for the season and asked the marina mechanic if all of my fluids (oil, coolant and trannie) had been topped off. After being told "you should be good to go," I backed her out of the slip and got about 30 seconds of reverse before major slippage started. Nothing after that. I am still fuming/speechless considering the size of the bill. I then found other problems that I will not go into at the moment. Shame on me for not looking at all of my levels before leaving.

Lesson learned.
