I know this might be better suited to boatdiesel.com but I haven't gotten around to joining up and learning to deal w/ thier somewhat cumbersome format.
Anyway, over the weekend I cut my ride short when I noticed that my starboard engine (Cummins) was running a bit hot (200 rather than the usual 195) and the oil pressure was a bit off the usual 60 psi. Port side was normal at 190 and 60.
Today I checked the oil, both sides right on the full line. Strangely the coolant reservoir cap would loosen but didn't seem to want to come off. The writing on the cap referred to it as a "closed system". (???) Anyway, the expansion tank on the starboard side was pretty much empty so I dumped a quart or so of diluted coolant in there. I'll have to wait till tomorrow to get her up to temperature and see if that made any impact.
Here's the expansion tank. I filled it up to the white "Cummins" text and it dropped to the bottom of the logo when I ran it.
