Mark,
I would not do it, but.. the hull has gotta be greater then 15 degrees so you would go with the one that’s set for 20.First, the tilted element transducer is a 50 / 200KHz ducer and will conflict with any real fish finder multi-element transducer you would ever want to install. The 600L is recommended to be used with the 520 series. These bigger transducers do a great job of showing bottom pictures, but getting a fix on the bottom for depth in shallow water is kind of like looking at an elephant thru a straw at 10 feet. This analogy is not mine, so don’t shoot the messenger.
I think you are better off going with the 235KHz “Smartsensor” for speed, depth and temp plugged into the NEMA port of the 600L. It uses a 45 degree beam and can be mounted flush up to about 40 degrees and still report accurate depth below the boat. Somehow it works with that 45 degree beam calculates bottom depth correctly. It won't interfere with the fish finding capabilities of the bigger 50 / 200 KHz transducer because it operates on a separate frequency.
I've been schooled by Airmar, Furuno and Consumers marine. All great people to talk with and I hope I’m making sense. If I am wrong, please let me know.
