Looking for a 31, great choice. One of the only boats I know of that actually goes up in value.
As far as the hull goes, little problems or concerns. On boats of this age expect the decking to be in need of a rebuild. The older ones are plywood over wood framing and the newwer have glass over the wood framing. The bulkheads and other wood items may also need some attention.
Windows frames are another item that seems to show age. Take a good look at them, especially if covered by canvas wraps. Look for corrosion, pitting and the like.
Speaking of windows the curved ones tend to have crazing and may need replacing.
The rub rail is also Aluminum and thus also may show signs of corrosion. Can be cleaned up, painted or replaced.
On a boat of this age its amazing all this stuff is just cosmetics. Fix it as the need arises, or all at once. It is a boat that you can dump money into and get it back if you should choose to sell.
I'll put mine up against just about any boat built today, this is one boat you know you'll get home with.
