Painting Underdeck Wood

Way back when,at the begining of the rebuild I decided to epoxy paint all wood in the bilge or any wood below deck.Some times pre-instalation and sometimes after.

Is there any draw back to this?Something is gnawing at me,maybe breathing or the like.I hope i'm wrong.
