In Response To: Smoke advice (Walter Kaprielian)

Walter, before I would worry too much, sometimes when they shut down, a gulp of unburned fuel will be ingested and on hot startup will smoke blacker than normal for a few minutes, since they use next to no fuel with no load and low rpm.

Since she's been sitting for months, a sticky injector is a possibility which would work ok at hi rpm but dump too much fuel at idle. If she still does it after your next run, just crack the injector nuts one by one on the offending engine and see if the black smoke quits when a particular cylinder is taken down.
